On Saturday, August 23, 2025, the Alberta Wilderness Association (AWA) is hosting its one-day Book Sale fundraiser at the historic Hillhurst Cottage School in Calgary. Come browse a wide selection of new and gently used books, most of which have been donated to support AWA’s environmental work. Alongside the books, there will be AWA merchandise, membership specials, and a rare opportunity to explore the association’s remarkable office, formerly the Hillhurst Cottage School, built in 1910. This heritage site is the oldest surviving purpose-built school in Hillhurst Sunnyside and one of only two remaining cottage schools in Calgary.
