Alberta Wilderness Association (AWA) is a federally registered charitable organization and Alberta's oldest wilderness conservation group, founded in 1965. The organization works to protect Alberta's wild lands, wild waters, wildlife, and biodiversity through conservation advocacy, public education, research, and community engagement.
AWA promotes the creation and stewardship of protected areas while advocating for responsible management of public lands and natural ecosystems. Guided by its mission of "Defending Wild Alberta through Awareness and Action," the organization collaborates with communities, governments, Indigenous Peoples, and conservation partners to help ensure Alberta's natural landscapes are protected for future generations.
