The Association of Black Social Workers (ABSW) is a volunteer-led Canadian charity made up of Black social workers and human service professionals across Nova Scotia. It was formed to create a space where practitioners can share ideas, offer services, and develop programs that support the social, emotional, and professional needs of the Black community and the wider public. ABSW runs educational and community-focused initiatives — including workshops, counselling, anti-racism training, and awareness sessions on topics like mental health and parenting — and provides professional development and outreach resources. Its work aims to strengthen access to opportunities and improve well-being for people of African descent in the region.
