Arctic Children And Youth Foundation

The Arctic Children and Youth Foundation (ACYF), established in 2003 by Mary Simon and Senator Landon B. Pearson, is a Canadian charity based in Iqaluit, Nunavut. Dedicated to improving the lives of children and youth in the Canadian Arctic, ACYF aims to ensure that Nunavut's young people have access to educational, health, and social services comparable to those available elsewhere in Canada. The foundation focuses on creating safe spaces for youth to discuss challenges, learn healthy coping mechanisms, and access culturally relevant support services. ​

ACYF operates several key programs, including the Umingmak Child Advocacy Centre, which addresses child abuse and supports recovery for affected children and their families. Additionally, the foundation manages the Inuit Child First Initiative (ICFI) office, assisting families in accessing funding for education, health, and social supports. Through these initiatives, ACYF plays a vital role in promoting the well-being and resilience of children and youth across Nunavut. ​
